Request for disaster dispatch to the Self-Defense Forces due to Hokuriku Expressway stuck 1190 units could not move on the up and down lines in Fukui prefecture

Fukui Prefecture established a prefectural anti-disaster headquarters at 4:00 am on January 10. From the viewpoint of saving lives, it was judged that it was necessary to eliminate the stuck vehicles on the Hokuriku Expressway and requested the 14th Ordinary Regiment of the Ground Self-Defense Force Kanazawa Station to dispatch a disaster. The contents of the request are (1) snow removal around the stuck vehicle and towing support (2) distribution of food and fuel.

The regiment explained the system of the Self-Defense Forces at the prefectural antidisaster headquarter meeting held at the prefectural office around 7 am on the same day. It was reported that the advance team of the regiment departed at 4 am, arrived at the Kanazu Interchange (IC) on the Hokuriku Expressway, and joined the prefectural police. The first 140 members of the main team left Kanazawa at 5:25 am. He explained that it will be divided into a unit heading from Kanazu IC to Maruoka IC and a unit heading from Fukui Kita IC to Kanazu IC.

1190 units stuck on the Hokuriku Expressway in Fukui Prefecture

As reinforcement, the 10th Tank Squadron at Imazu Camp in Shiga Prefecture is also planning to support from the Fukui IC side with a scale of 50 people, and preparations are underway.

According to the Central Nippon Expressway, as of 5 am on the same day, a total of about 1190 cars were stuck on the Hokuriku Expressway in Fukui Prefecture due to heavy snowfall. On the down line, about 500 cars are stuck near the Fukui Kita Interchange (IC) and about 300 cars are stuck at the Maruoka IC. On the up line, 300 cars are stuck at the beginning of Maruoka IC, and 90 cars are stuck between Maruoka IC and Fukui Kita IC.
