The federal government will appear in front of the press on lockdown start Monday afternoon and announce how things will continue with the Corona rules in Austria after February 7th.

Day of the lockdown decision in Austria! The government has been consulting with experts, state governors and the opposition since the morning hours on easing the lockdown from February 8th. Main topic I: The opening of schools after the semester break. These should start again after “Today” information – but in shifts and with self-tests.

Main topic II: The shops. The trade is apparently also allowed to reopen, but here too with a massive restriction: a shopping limit! And the hairdressers should be able to receive customers again. Any relaxation is accompanied by strict measures such as FFP2 masks, tests and distance rules.

The final decision on how to proceed in detail after February 8th is expected at 6 p.m. Then the government will announce the possible easing or tightening at a press conference. The media round was originally planned for 4 p.m., but it will now be delayed by around two hours.

“Today” reports live from 6 pm!
