Luka Doncic is undoubtedly locked in for Game 5 against the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Dallas Mavericks are making sure he has the support he needs. Enter Boban Marjanovic.

In a rather unsurprising lineup change for the Mavs, it has been revealed that the team is planning to star Marjanovic in place of Maxi Kleber against the Clippers. Interestingly, LA coach Ty Lue expected the move and even told that to the media in his pre-game pressed.

Boban Marjanovic’s expected to replace Maxi Kleber in the Mavericks’ starting lineup for Game 5, a league source tells me, as Ty Lue just predicted in his pre-game presser.

Ty Lue finishing his pregame Zoom with reporters just now: “I expect [Mavs will] probably start Bobi, but we’ll see.”

Now that is a move that should bring a smile to Luka Doncic’s face. After all, Luka and Bobi are already best friends–even confirming that in a recent game in a news that broke the heart of Bobi’s ex-BFF in Tobias Harris.
For what it’s worth, the decision is now without merit. Boban Marjanovic had a solid outing in Game 4 of the series, scoring 12 points on 5-of-9 attempts in just nearly 15 minutes. That is the kind of production and aggressiveness the Mavs need after squandering a 2-0 lead, and injecting Bobi might help that cause.
As for Luka, the Mavs and the whole fan base are surely hoping he is at 100 percent entering the crucial Wednesday showdown. His neck injury (cervical strain) has clearly bothered him in the past two games, and the team just can’t function that well without his scoring and passing.
Luckily for Luka though, the presence of his BFF in Boban should ease things for him a little bit.
