CJ McCollum’s true feelings on trade rumors

Blazers, CJ McCollum, Damian Lillard

After another disappointing first-round exit for the Portland Trail Blazers, the team has been engulfed with several trade rumors. It started with Damian Lillard before things shifted to his backcourt partner CJ McCollum.

As rumors have it, the Blazers are more than likely to consider trading McCollum than Lillard. Blazers general manager Neil Olshey also only poured fuel to the speculations after he chose to give a cryptic response to questions about trading the 29-year-old guard, highlighting that they are not closing their doors to anything if that will bring them closer to the championship.
With that said, talks and fan trade proposals involving McCollum have spread like wildfire. Sure enough, the Blazers vet saw these talks and chose to address the issue in the best way possible, adding he is “not offended’ by it.
“I came from nothin. To more than something. I work hard, show up and do my job to the best of my ability. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Even if that means they want to see me traded. It’s a part of life when you play this sport. Blessings,” McCollum wrote on Twitter.
CJ McCollum is largely considered the second-best player of the Blazers behind Damian Lillard, but that also means he’s not the most important. Considering that and the value he has, it’s understandable why he is first to be thrown in trade chatters.
The veteran guard did address the issue perfectly, though. He chose to stay classy instead of ranting or firing back to his haters.
It remains to be seen what will happen to the Blazers, Lillard and McCollum. Nonetheless, changes are expected to be made as the team tries to overcome their playoff woes and truly compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
