\n\u201cWe don\u2019t want to trade James Wiseman. I think he\u2019s a tremendous talent,\u201d Myers said, via Connor Letourneau of the\u00a0San Francisco Chronicle. \u201cI think he can be very helpful for us in the future and in the present. We plan on him being on the team.\u201d
\nWiseman suffered a torn meniscus last month, an injury that cost him the remainder of the 2020-21 season. Myers said he hopes the Warriors youngster will be ready to go in time for training camp:
\n\u201c[Training camp\u2019s] important\u2026We really hope and think that he\u2019ll be available for that,\u201d Myers said, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
\nWiseman went through the traditional ups and downs of a rookie season. He averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 39 games, occasionally showing flashes of his exceptional upside but also dealing with growing pains and multiple physical setbacks.
\nThe Warriors are hungry to get back to the pinnacle of the NBA next season, especially with Stephen Curry playing at an MVP level and Klay Thompson on the verge of his return. However, the reality is Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green are entering the latter stages of their respective careers. That latter point makes Wiseman\u2019s development a major sticking point in terms of the Warriors and their future trajectory.
\nMyers still appears to consider Wiseman a key figure in the team\u2019s ability to win both now and in the future.
