Luka Doncic has been phenomenal through his first two games against the Los Angeles Clippers. But the Dallas Mavericks star’s early playoff showings haven’t just been impressive, they’re arguably the best in NBA history.

The Mavs star is averaging 35.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 9.0 assists through their first two victories against the Clippers. But his dominance over them has been on full display since last season. So much so that Luka stands alone with the arguably the best all-around stretch ever to start his NBA playoff career.

Luka Dončić now has 256 points, 76 rebounds and 70 assists in his first eight career postseason games.

Per @EliasSports, Dončić is the first player in @NBA history to record 250+ points, 70+ rebounds and 70+ assists through a player’s first 8 career postseason games. pic.twitter.com/Gb1HljeLlv

Considering the basketball legends who have come and gone throughout the NBA’s storied history, this proves just how special the Mavs wunderkind truly is. There have been players who have put on scoring exhibitions to begin their NBA playoff career.

Michael Jordan scored 283 points through his first eight playoff games, besting Doncic with a monster per game average. But he tallied just 48 rebounds and 58 assists, falling well short of Luka’s 76 and 70. MJ’s final line through eight games was 35.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James had himself a special run during his first tase of the playoffs with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He outscored Doncic’s 256 as well, posting 266 points through eight games. But he was also far off on the peripheral stats, finishing with 63 rebounds and 45 assists through those contests. King James’ first eight games saw him post 33.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.

Luka’s first 8-game sample in the playoffs is just mind-boggling to list down. Through his age 21 and 22 playoff runs so far, the Mavs star has tallied 32.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game.

The Mavs star has showed poise on par with some of the NBA’s greatest players of all time. It’s a foregone conclusion that he’ll etch his name into NBA lore as he goes throughout his career. It’s just a matter of how high Luka Doncic can climb.
