The contents of the time capsule found in the wall (Picture: Holcombe Farmshop and Kitchen \/ SWNS)A pub owner has told how they found a 50-year-old time capsule hidden in the venue\u2019s walls during a renovation, filled with memorabilia from days gone by.
\nToby Brett, the current owner of Holcombe Farmshop and Kitchen, in Radstock, Somerset, found the capsule and said its was a \u2018pleasant surprise\u2019.
\nWithin the box, he unearthed a 1971 price list, coins, stamps and a \u00a31-an-hour wage slip.
\nThere was also a collection of ha\u2019ppenies, old beer mats and car tax discs.
\nOne scrawled note, dated July 13 1973, reads: \u2018To the present owner from a past owner, good luck\u2019, and is signed by an E. Pockson \u2013 who included some of his own ID cards in the collection.
\nAnd a longer letter explains that Mr Pockson had carried out his own \u2018major alterations\u2019 to the pub in July 1973, with the help of now defunct property developers, Oakhill Brewery Development.<\/p>\n

It was a really pleasant find, there\u2019s some really interesting stuff in there.
\n\u2018It was quite funny to see the price list from 1971 for Wadworth Brewery, which is a brewery we still use today. It\u2019s definitely changed a bit since then.<\/p>\n
Coins and mementoes from the capsule (Picture: Holcombe Farmshop and Kitchen \/ SWNS)\u2018There\u2019s a couple of pounds worth of ha\u2019pennies in there too \u2013 and the previous landlord had written a note saying, \u201cSorry it\u2019s only ha\u2019pennies\u201d.
\n\u2018I like that he had clearly given some thought as to it being found in the future, and who might find it. It\u2019s nice that someone had the foresight to do that.\u2019<\/p>\n
There were also handwritten notes (Picture: Holcombe Farmshop and Kitchen \/ SWNS)Toby has now displayed the historic collection on a mounted board in the pub and farmshop, for customers to see when they visit.
\nAnd he has had some of the ha\u2019penny coins embedded in see-through resin and placed within the floor, so that customers can literally walk over them.<\/p>\n
Including this one that wished the current owner good luck (Picture: Holcombe Farmshop and Kitchen \/ SWNS)Toby has recently renovated the building, which dates back to the 1800s, so that it is not just a village pub, but also incorporates a farm shop and deli, where people can buy local produce.
\nHe said: \u2018I felt there was demand for us to sell other things rather than just alcohol and pub food.

\u2018It was important to me to keep the village pub as the hub of the community \u2013 but I also wanted to offer something to other locals, too.
\n\u2018So now we\u2019ve changed the whole look and feel of the place, and as well as the pub we have an open cafe space, with offerings from local butchers and other local produce.\u2019
