Phillip Schofield blasted the debate over whether England footballers Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell need to isolate.
\nThe pair came into close contact with Scotland\u2019s Billy Gilmour after the goalless draw on Friday, and Gilmour has since tested positive for coronavirus.
\nDespite negative test results, Mount and Chilwell have now been instructed to isolate until June 28 in line with government guidelines, meaning they are out of England\u2019s final group game tonight against Czech Republic.
\nHowever, on today\u2019s instalment of This Morning, Phillip questioned why the Scotland players were not asked to isolate over Gilmour\u2019s positive result.
\nAt the beginning of the discussion, Dr Ellie Cannon was introduced by explaining that the entire England squad should be isolating after Friday\u2019s game.
\nHaving none of it, the host began: \u2018Why not the full Scottish team? Why not the whole stadium? Why don\u2019t you shut it all down?<\/p>\n

\nDr Ellie calmly replied: \u2018I want the Euros to go ahead, I want the economy, we all need the happiness and the joy from the football.\u2019
\nShe explained that children are constantly having to isolate from school with one positive test, and are missing out on important milestones in terms of the curriculum, but there seems to be a different rule for footballers, which could leave members of the public \u2018not bothering\u2019 with rules.
\n\u2018It feels like there\u2019s one rule for them, and one rule for us. What happens as a result of that is, people are not bothering anymore,\u2019 she said.
\n\u2018I had lots of patients yesterday say to me, \u201cNo, I\u2019m not going to get tested because I\u2019m not going to isolate and I\u2019m not going through this again.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n

Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount will miss out on England v Czech Republic (Picture: Reuters)Phillip then called out those who had \u2018picked out\u2019 Gilmour, Mount and Chilwell over the positive test, as well as a 25-minute conversation they reportedly had in the tunnel, insisting: \u2018This tunnel conversation is irrelevant because you have all of them together in the dressing room beforehand and afterwards, coaching and all of that.
\n\u2018So it\u2019s irrelevant to pick out three players.\u2019
\nWhen Ellie agreed, Phil fumed: \u2018If it\u2019s irrelevant then why did you say at the very beginning, the England team should be in isolation?\u2019
\n\u2018Because surely they\u2019re all together in their changing rooms and they\u2019ve all had close contact,\u2019 she added. \u2018Football is a close contact game, they\u2019re all close to each other, so how can you say just the ones who have had a conversation are next to each other?

Viewers watching on from home were left unimpressed by the discussion, and flocked to Twitter to call out Phil\u2019s response.
\n\u2018You\u2019re encouraging people to disobey then Phil. Not very responsible is it? #ThisMorning,\u2019 one said.
\n\u2018Did Phil actually just say that? Cancel everything? That wasn\u2019t really the point they were getting at! #ThisMorning,\u2019 another commented.
\nA Twitter user replied: \u2018I don\u2019t think blonde curly haired woman is impressed with what Phil is saying. He\u2019s acting like he knows better even though she has direct experience. Stay in your lane Phil #ThisMorning.\u2019
