Damian Lillard is a man of many talents. He is also a man with many three-pointers—from way deep too. Wink if you’re there, Paul George.
On Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers, Lillard achieved another impressive milestone. After draining four three-pointers, the Portland Trail Blazers main man became the second fastest player in NBA history to reach 2,000 makes from long distance, according to ESPN.
The fastest one to do it? We’ll give you a few seconds to guess. Done? You guessed it, it’s not Greg Ostertag. It’s Stephen Curry, of course. The Golden State Warriors gunslinger reached 2,000 three-pointers in just 597 games, while Lillard did it in 670 outings. Nevertheless, it’s a laudable feat from the hooper slash rapper slash reaper of Paul George’s dreams.
Against the depleted Pacers, Lillard shot 4-of-8 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points on top of four rebounds and six assists. But perhaps more important than his newest achievement, the Trail Blazers finally broke a five-game losing streak.
The 30-year-old Lillard also deflected credit and gave props to young teammate Anfernee Simons, who had one heck of an evening from rainbow territory as well. Simons sank a career-high nine three-pointers, missing only one of his 10 attempts. After the game, Lillard adoringly called Simons “the man of the hour.”
Damian Lillard also recently reached another milestone as he jumped to 10th place in NBA history for total three-pointers made. And among those, perhaps his most memorable one was his buzzer-beating, series-clinching, ball-busting Eff You three-pointer against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
