Viewers of the Brit Awards 2021 were left stunned as former First Lady Michelle Obama appeared to present an award on the night.
The former Flotus was a surprise guest on the night, appearing via video link to present the award for international male to The Weeknd.
She told viewers: ‘He’s made his impact not just on stage and in our earbuds, he’s also donated millions to causes like Covid relief and Black Lives Matter.
‘He’s helped feed those displaced by violence in Ethiopia, he’s funded assistance for survivors of the explosion in Lebanon.
‘So let’s just say, in a tough year, he’s provided a light that’s pretty blinding and given us all a reason to dance.’
Referring to The Weeknd by his real name of Abel Tesfaye, she added: ‘I am proud to announce that the winner of the international male solo artist is The Weeknd. Congratulations, Abel.’
Brits fans were over the moon to see Michelle, tweeting: ‘Michelle Obama, What a flex’ and ‘michelle obama announcing the weeknd as the international male artist of the year at #brits2021 made me happy in a way that i became so emotional , i am so proud of him’.
