On Thursday night, New York City debut for the third and last season of FX’s hit series Pose, executive producer, and director Janet Mock shook the crowd with an emotional and fiery speech berating Hollywood for its mistreatment of the trans community.
Janet Shook The Crowd With Her Emotional Speech
“Screw Hollywood,” Mock said, supposedly leaving audience members speechless. “This makes you uncomfortable? It ought to. It must make you f***ing shake in your motherf***ing boots. This is talking the truth. This is the thing that Pose is.” She conveyed her 15-minute tirade at Jazz at Lincoln Center, featuring the inequitable pay for Black trans ladies working in the business. “Why should I get paid $40,000 a motherf***ing episode, huh?” Mock asked the crowd. “I’m furious!”

In one trade, Mock said that Murphy got trans talent to float the writers’ room, at one point telling the super-producer, “You brought… young ladies in to help you.” “Who got the young ladies?” Mock asked him. “I did, I required the young ladies to be there,” Murphy answered. At another point during the emotional speech, Mock straightforwardly addressed her partner, Angel Bismark Curiel, who plays Lil Papi on the show, conceding that she was unfaithful with an individual from the Pose group and apparently requesting his forgiveness.
All through the stunning and exceptional speech, Mock’s love and admiration for Pose stayed clear. “I get to stand up taller on the planet in light of this show,” she said. “I am aware that I matter in light of this show. I am aware I have a voice due to this show.” In his speech at the occasion, Murphy expressed his suffering love for the program and the effect it’s had on his career. “Throughout my career, it is the main thing that I’ve been a part of,” he said. “And, it is something that I feel that I’m simply the gladdest to consider a part of.” Representatives for Mock and FX didn’t quickly react to requests for comment.
