Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic just gave the New York Knicks the warmest of welcomes in the Mile High City.

On Wednesday, the league’s leading MVP candidate put up monster numbers in the opening quarter to outscore the entire Knicks roster. Denver was off to a hot start and Jokic was firing from all cylinders. He ended the first 12 minutes scoring 24 points while the ‘Bockers were stuck at 12.
Did someone say MVP?

Along with an average scoring rate of two points per minute in the opening quarter, Nikola Jokic shot at an insane rate for the Nuggets. He went 8-of-9 from the field and cashed in on 8-of-10 free throws. The 26-year-old added six boards and a couple of blocks for good measure.
It sure looks like The Joker had a good pre-game meal, huh?
The Serbian has put up unbelievable numbers once again this season, and it seems more than likely that he’ll be making his fellow big men in the league proud as he continues to lead the tight MVP race. Prior to Wednesday’s contest, Jokic is averaging career-high numbers across the board with 26.3 points, 10.9 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game. This is also the nearest Jokic has been to averaging a triple-double. Just wow.
More importantly, Jokic’s Nuggets are looking like a lock to grab a top-four spot in the West. Despite losing point guard Jamal Murray to a season-ending knee injury, Jokic has put his squad on his shoulders as they try to make some more noise come the playoffs.
