Golden State eyeing ex-starter familiar with Stephen Curry

[ad_1]

In an attempt to beef up their roster, the Golden State Warriors are eyeing to acquire Jordan Bell once again, a player highly familiar with the Stephen Curry ecosystem.

Marcus Thompson of the Athletic first unveiled the news, although nothing is official and it’s still a matter of wait-and-see. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting development for the up-and-down Warriors, who have been riding Curry’s shoulders all season.

Possible reunion with a big that’d fit their current speedy style. Has experience in the Curry offensive ecosystem. Nothing official, but conversations being had. Bell would fit into one of two open roster spots. https://t.co/YnrJoxzSbn

To recall, Bell played with Curry and the Warriors for two seasons, winning a title in 2018. He played around 10-15 minutes per outing and was primarily assigned to do the dirty work. But for those who have seen the Warriors play over the last several years, every single player needs to know how the machine operates. The team rarely plays isolation ball and the playbook is almost always centered on Curry.
As such, Bell’s value does not necessarily lie in his production. But rather, it is seen through intangibles like setting solid screens, boxing out, and more importantly, being at the right place at the right time.
The 2020-21 season has been a rough one for Jordan Bell. He spent his time jumping between the Washington Wizards and G League Team Erie Bayhawks. Now, he is a free agent still looking for a team. Reuniting with Stephen Curry would surely be a sweet deal.
The Warriors have less than 10 games left and still have a chance to qualify outright for the NBA Playoffs. So the move might be an attempt to fill in the void for their last push. This could also be in preparation for next season when Klay Thompson is expected to return.
