There is nothing better than gathering with friends over good food and drinks and now, there’s a genuine buzz about this side of our social lives returning.
And as indoor dining reopens in England today, Uber and Opentable have teamed up to help support the hospitality sector and the many diners who will frequent restaurants over the coming weeks.
To coincide with the restart, Uber will cover 50% of the cost of a trip, up to £6, to the first 20,000 riders or when the offer ends on May 30.
This not only helps diners travel safely and securely to their restaurant destination but acts as an incentive to get revellers back to businesses affected by restrictions.
To use the promotion, all you have to do is enter DiningIsBack into the wallet section of the Uber app before booking a trip. Users are then encouraged to book their dining reservation at the restaurant, cafe or pub with the OpenTable app.
The popular online booking network has curated a bespoke list of restaurants to take a trip to in 10 cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton and Bristol.

Interested parties will need to book their spot quickly because reservations for May 17 are up 71% across the UK when compared to the same day in 2019, showing just how keen diners are to get back to indoor dining.
‘As indoor dining reopens across the country, we want to help restaurants and eateries who’ve struggled during lockdown get back on their feet,’ said Ash Kebriti, the UK General Manager of Uber. ‘This is why we have teamed up with OpenTable to play our role as people return to their favourite restaurants.’
While EMEA VP of OpenTable Lucy Taylor added: ‘We know how much people have missed dining out since restaurants have been closed, and we cannot wait to help them find the right dining experience for them as restaurants reopen their indoor spaces.’
