Comedic legend Paul Mooney has passed away at the age of 79, according to various reports. Mooney, who was in the industry for decades, is likely best known as a featured player on the greatest skit show of all time Chappelle’s Show.
According to the reports, he passed away due to a heart attack. That being said, at the time of this writing, details are a bit fluid and not much else is known. To avoid any form of conjecture, we won’t speculate on anything else.
Paul Mooney likely gained his biggest fame in Chappelle’s Show due to a few stunning characters, as well as a few skits that transcended the Comedy Central platform they originally aired on.
Mooney did a segment called “Ask a Black Dude” and also played a future-seeing fellow named Negrodamus. He also had a wonderful one-liner involving a famous sports broadcaster that I can’t even mention here because this website is meant to be suitable for work.
Nonetheless, a legend is gone and many people — especially those alive and thriving during the peak of the Chappelle’s Show era — are mourning the loss of the all-time great. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Paul Mooney, his family, friends and all his loved ones.
