The New York Knicks came into Atlanta with a tied series and are leaving with a 3-1 deficit to Trae Young and the Hawks. After a 113-96 loss to the Hawks on Sunday, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau gave a simple, brief answer as they face elimination and head back to New York.

Thibs is spot on, but can they be fixed? The Knicks lost both games in Atlanta double digits and besides Derrick Rose, the rest of the offense has been stagnant. Julius Randle, the league’s Most Improved Player of the Year, has struggled in the series and got visibly frustrated at the end of Game 4 with a flagrant foul on Danilo Gallinari. Randle hasn’t been himself, and the Knicks definitely need him to be the MIP that he is.
Trae Young has been fantastic and given this Knicks’ defense headaches. More than that, the Hawks have found other guys to step up and make shots and are just one victory away from a trip to the second round.
They have two days to figure out how to get back on track as Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday evening. The good news is that Madison Square Garden should be rocking once again, but the Knicks season could very well end Wednesday night if they play as they have in Georgia.
