Bank holiday: Hottest day of the year confirmed by Met Office

Brits flocked to the beach today to enjoy the sun after weeks of miserable rain and cold (Picture: PA)Bank Holiday Monday has been confirmed as the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures soaring above 24C.
According to the Met Office, the highest temperature of 24.6C was recorded in Kinloss in Scotland this afternoon.
This has surpassed the previous high for 2021, when the temperature hit 24.5C on March 30 at Kew Gardens, south-west London.
