It is known as the late spring bank holiday, and afalls around the traditional time of Whitsun.

When are the remaining bank holidays in 2021?
There are eight bank holidays in England and Wales in 2021 and these are the remaining dates:
Spring Bank Holiday – Monday, May 31
Summer Bank Holiday – Monday, August 30
Christmas Day – Monday, December 27
Boxing Day – Tuesday, December 28

Do trains and buses run on bank holiday?
Buses and trains do run on bank holidays, unless there’s been a specific announcement for a particular service.
Some train lines tend to complete essential work over bank holidays meaning there could be disruptions but there is often plenty of notice given.
Buses will otherwise be running throughout the bank holiday, but less frequently than a normal Monday.

If you’re one of the Brits needing to travel this bank holiday, most bus services have a timetable you can track online so you aren’t left waiting for a bus that isn’t going to come.
How to get more days off with your bank holidays
If you live in England and Wales, Metro.co.uk have worked out how to get nearly seven weeks off work with just 19 days of your annual leave.
For example, if you wanted a longer stretch in summer, thanks to the summer bank holiday on August 30, booking annual leave from August 31 to September 3 will give you nine straight days off work for just four days out of your allowance.
