The Wannabe hitmaker is mother to two sons, Beau, 13, and Tate, 10, who she shares with longtime partner Jade Jones.
Emma, 45, and Jade, 42, have discussed having a third child but the singer discovered it may be too late as she is now perimenopausal, which is where the body naturally prepares to transition to Menopause.
The pop star, who ‘cried her eyes out’ upon learning this, detailed her symptoms to The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine, saying: ‘I started to feel unbalanced and anxious.
‘At first I put it down to the pandemic. But then the anxiety became more regular, until it was daily.
‘I was also lethargic. Something wasn’t right. I looked up the symptoms and saw I had quite a few. So I spoke to someone on Zoom who came to the same conclusion. I was perimenopausal.’
Emma continued: ‘I thought, “Is this the end?” It’s been a very weird time. I’m a very mumsy person – when I see my friends’ babies, I always become broody. But now I thought, “OK, this is it”.’

Perimenopause typically begins in women in their 40s and is when the ovaries gradually begin to make less estrogen. It lasts up until menopause, the point when the ovaries stop releasing eggs.

Emma has previously opened up about her fertility plans and admitted that former Damage singer Jade ‘would love to have more children, but it’s so hard’.
‘I battle with myself because I think, I obviously would never regret having another child, but I might regret not having another child,’ she added on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast.
