Nintendo and Ubisoft are back at it again with the tactical turn-based game! The unique and unlikely cross-over between Mario and the Raving Rabbids universe has returned. Mario+Rabbids faces a new, galactic dilemma. Ubisoft announced the new Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope game during its Ubisoft Forward event at E3 2021, with an amazing announcement trailer!

Who do Mario+Rabbids need to save this time?
In the previous game, Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Mario and the Mushroom-Kingdom cosplaying Rabbids had to save the Mushroom Kingdom. This was thanks to the shenanigans of other Rabbids who had brought chaos for messing around with powerful weapons.
The sequel Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope brings an even bigger dilemma. Not only do our heroes need to save the kingdom, but also the entire galaxy! Now the protagonists are sent to space to hop from planet to planet, tasked to take down a villain named Cursa. This villain wants to take over the galaxy by draining energy from all the planets. Particularly, Cursa wants to drain the pure energy that Sparks possess. Cursa is said to be a greater evil compared to the previous game’s villain MegaBug.
What are the Mario+Rabbids Sparks and how will they affect the Gameplay?
Our heroes won’t be alone in this overwhelming galactic battle. Sparks will be lending their powers to assist our favorite mustached hero and his team.
Fans of Super Mario Galaxy will remember Lumas. Sparks are the merging of Lumas and Rabbids. As the game progresses, you will be tasked to rescue Sparks. Each one you save will grant you its own unique special ability. Associate Producer Cristina Nava explained that Sparks are companions and are very essential to the gameplay. Players now have more options, in the form of Sparks, to overcome levels and outplay their enemies.
Kingdom Battle vs Sparks of Hope: What’s new in the Sequel
The team behind Sparks of Hope repeatedly mentioned the game’s ambitiousness. In the previous title, Kingdom Battle, the game focused on saving the Mushroom Kingdom in a linear level-by-level approach. Sparks of Hope has improved on this, now giving players non-linear level progression. You will also be able to interact with NPCs in the level. We should also be expecting a lot of secrets to find within a level, different characters, and even mission givers. All levels are now more interactive which is good news for players who love to explore and find any hidden gems and easter eggs, or just appreciate the game’s level design.
We thought that this hilarious cross-over would only be a one-time thing, especially that the developers of this game have gone completely silent after release. But Mario+Rabbids is back, even better and bigger than before. Although there is no official release date yet, we can expect Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope to release sometime in 2022.
