Chris Paul has heard it all. The Phoenix Suns All-Star is indeed getting long in the tooth, but after tonight’s closeout performance in an elimination game, he let his play remind everyone that he’s still got it.
The Suns point guard also said it out loud for a bit after the epic Game 4 showing:
“A couple of years ago they were writing me off. This ain’t about me. It’s about us.”

Two seasons before joining the Phoenix Suns, the 16-year NBA veteran was considered by many to be damaged goods. The guard just couldn’t stay healthy anymore, and it cost him a shot at a title in two years with James Harden and the Houston Rockets. The narrative on CP3 after getting traded from Texas was that he was toast. The fact that they gave up draft picks with Paul to get Russell Westbrook should tell you what his value was even around the league.
But you know who else heard all that slander? Chris Paul. After what felt like a bounce back year with the Oklahoma City Thunder, CP3 is back to leading a contender to the top of the mountain. He even posted the quote on his Instagram story, in case anymore missed it live:
Chris Paul and the Suns are now four wins away from a trip to the NBA Finals. You just love to see it.
