Coming off one of their best seasons in a long time, the Washington Football Team will look to repeat as division champs and make a deep playoff run this upcoming season. With training camp right around the corner, they’ve got some big choices to make after a very productive NFL draft.

Having made lots of great picks this year, Washington will have plenty of great prospects to choose from when filling out their roster. Having said all this, let’s take an in-depth look at the two hidden gems on the Washington Football Team that will make a huge splash during the 2021 NFL season and shine big in the nation’s capital.
John Bates
A big need for this Washington offense is depth at the tight end position. After a breakout season from Logan Thomas, they’ll need to add a reliable second-stringer to give him some much-needed relief. Enter John Bates, a tw0-time All-Mountain West honorable mention that can prove to be highly productive on slant routes and screen passes while providing them with some solid pass blocking.

Although Thomas has emerged as one of the better tight ends in the league, providing him with a back-up to play in-between reps is vital for this team’s success throughout the season. With the NFL now moving to an 18-game season, lessening Thomas’ load and providing him with help will also provide Washington with quality depth in their passing game. The addition of Bates would be a welcome one in D.C., especially during their quest to retain the NFC east crown.
Darrick Forrest
Strong safety is another major area of need for Washington, with them expecting to have a solid rotation of cornerbacks this season, adding more depth at safety is going to be huge for them. Already boasting one of the best defenses in the league, Washington will need to add a strong safety to elevate the secondary and make them a more dynamic defensive unit.
Well, look no further because they may have their solution in Darrick Forest, an honorable mention and first-team selection for the American Athletic Conference. His speed, power, and athleticism will add to their youth movement and provide them with another skill player in their secondary with Kendall Fuller.

Darrick Forest says ‘Washington was on me heavy’ and they really value his ability on special teams. They like how he ‘can be a dog’ on specials and ‘make my role’

Between Fuller at cornerback and Forrest at strong safety, this Washington team will have one scary secondary. Plus they’ll need Forrest’s agility, steady hands, and stellar footwork to keep pace with the likes of Amari Cooper, Alshon Jeffery, and Darius Slayton all season long. Adding Forrest to this already elite Washington defense is an absolute must if they want to make a deep playoff push this upcoming season.
With another NFL season set to be back in full swing, the Washington Football Team will need to add the necessary pieces to its roster to make that next leap and pull off a deep playoff run. These are big additions that fill major holes in their roster and provide them with much-needed depth that gives their core guys the rest they need in between reps.
Something else to factor in is that the 18-game season will add to the wear and tear that a lot of these guys have to remedy all throughout the season. So the bigger the rotation, the more they can allow their guys to recover, and the better the chances for Washington to make the playoffs.
