Terance Mann has been one of the biggest breakout stories in these NBA playoffs. The 2nd-year guard has been cooking for the Los Angeles Clippers, and has figured in some big-time performances when his team needed it most.

Former Clippers guard Sindarius Thornwell has taken notice of Mann’s postseason coming out party, and couldn’t help but take a subtle dig at his former coach.

Wish doc let me hoop like lue let Mann.

Does Sindarius have a point? Thornwell played with the Clippers under Doc Rivers for two seasons. He was actually given a ton of playing time during his rookie season, averaging nearly 16 minutes per contest, close to Mann’s 18 minutes per game this season. But in that time, Thornwell only posted 3.9 points per game on 42.9% shooting.
In the following year, Thornwell’s role under Rivers’ system drastically shrunk. He played in 4.9 minutes per game, averaging just a single point on 34.7% shooting from the field. He played in just three minutes per game in four playoff appearance during their 2019 series against the Golden State Warriors.
But perhaps he never got a green light like Mann was given? Sindarius Thornwell was known as a big-time scorer in college but was designated as a defensive player during his time with the Clippers. But of course, the NBA is an entirely different story.

Thornwell did follow up with a couple of tweets clarifying that he still learned a ton and respects Doc Rivers. But it’s clear he felt he could have done more in a Clippers uniform if given the chance.

Don’t get it twisted I love and respect Doc my guy never speak bad about him ever gave me an opportunity and got the defensive stopper label from doc anytime I call he answers anytime I need his voice he’s available my guy 4life
