Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard will be one of the biggest stars representing Team USA for the upcoming Olympics. He’s been quite involved with the national squad, with reports also emerging that he, along with Kevin Durant, was responsible for recruiting other NBA stars to the roster.

As it turns out, however, Lillard is not at all happy with how USA Basketball has been handling their roster selection for the women’s team. In his mind, the decision to gloss over WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike is a complete travesty. The Blazers star took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter:

They doin Nneka Ogwumike dirty smh

This is the third time Team USA has omitted Ogwumike from the lineup and it has more than a few folks questioning this controversial decision — including Lillard.
You could argue that Ogwumike, the winner of the Most Valuable Player title of the 2020 FIBA Qualifying tournament, is one of the top players in the WNBA today. It is indeed quite mind-boggling why the Los Angeles Sparks forward was omitted from the Olympic roster. Is politics involved here somehow?
Ogwumike is a former MVP, a WNBA champion, a six-time All-Star, a five-time All-WNBA Defense, and a four-time All-WNBA selectee. She’s well on her way to a Hall of Fame career. Nevertheless, it seems that she hasn’t done enough to warrant a spot on the highly exclusive women’s national team.
Damian Lillard has called out the travesty, which should give this issue more time in the spotlight.
