Toronto Raptors big man Khem Birch believes that his fellow Canadian Lu Dort is the future of their country. However, Birch isn’t really in favor of Dort’s flopping antics on Sunday.

After the Raptors’ 112-106 victory over the Thunder, Birch heaped praise on Dort by calling him the future of Canadian basketball. For him, Dort will evolve into one of the best two-way players in the NBA.
“He’s the future, not only for Canada but the league… He’s gonna be a problem. He’s probably gonna be one of the best two-way players in the NBA. I have a lot of respect for him. A lot of young guys don’t work like that but he’s taken his game to another level,” the Raptors big man said, per Josh Lewenberg of TSN.
Birch also shared his thoughts on his late-game screen on Dort wherein the guard ‘flopped,’ per his point of view.

Birch on his hard late-game screen on Dort: I’m happy they didn’t call that flop. I swear I barely touched him. That’s how I felt.”

Dort finished the game with a team-high 29 points, to go along with four rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, Birch chipped in seven points, six rebounds, and three assists for Toronto.
While the Raptors big man’s criticism of Dort’s flopping will be up for debate, there’s no doubt that the Thunder guard indeed has a bright future ahead of him. To recall, he came into the spotlight last season after his stellar defense on James Harden in the playoffs.
This season, Dort is still showing off that hard-nosed defense that made him famous. However, he’s also proving that he can be an offensive gunner. The best part of all is that he’s just 22 years old. Who knows how good he’ll be in the next two to three years?
