Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum exploded for a career-high 60 points in their 143-140 come-from-behind overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs.

With that incandescent performance, Tatum etched his name in the historic books by becoming the 2nd youngest player in league history to score 60 points in a game, per StatMuse. The 23-year old is just behind Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker, who scored 70 points (against the Celtics) at the age of 20.

Jayson Tatum is the second youngest player in NBA history with a 60-point game.

In addition, Tatum’s epic night tied Boston legend Larry Bird for the most points in a game in Celtics franchise history.

There’s nothing like seeing your name right beside Larry Legend’s.
Tatum sizzled from all over the floor, going 20-of-37 from the field, making five 3-pointers, and converting 15-of-17 free-throws en route to his 60-piece. The 6-foot-8 forward was hot from the get-go, but that wasn’t the case as a team, as the Celtics fell behind by a seemingly insurmountable 32-point deficit at one point in the second quarter.
Trailing by 29 at half time, Boston could have simply caved in and let this game slide. However, with their playoff positioning on the line, the Celtics didn’t give up. Led by Tatum, they stormed back in the second half to force the game into overtime.
The 2-time All-Star made timely buckets down the stretch in both regulation and overtime, including two clutch buckets within the final two minutes of the extra period. To cap it off, he also drained the insurance free-throws with 4.2 seconds remaining to, not just complete the insane comeback, but get to his 60-spot as well.
April 30, 2021 will definitely be an unforgettable night for Jayson Tatum.
