After a division title and a playoff berth this past year, the Washington Football Team is ready to get better.

Washington was a weak team to make the playoffs. It went 7-9 but showed a lot of promise this season. The roster has been built with young talent including many up and coming stars.
Washington is set up for the future and could make another playoff appearance this season.
In free agency and the draft the Football Team added some key players that will improve the roster. Washington signed wide receiver Curtis Samuel in free agency who will instantly elevate the offense. Samuel is a versatile player who is a playmaker on offense and can score every time he touches the ball.
Although they don’t have a franchise quarterback in place as Washington currently has Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinicke in a competition for the starting spot. This team can compete with one of those quarterbacks but need to look for a long term option.
Although they don’t have a franchise quarterback they have some players that could potentially break out this season.
Washington breakout candidates:
3. Defensive end Montez Sweat
Montez Sweat is heading into his third season in the NFL and has improved in each of his first two seasons. This could be the year where Sweat breaks out as a star alongside edge rusher Chase Young. Sweat and Young have the potential to be a deadly one two punch at edge rusher for years. Sweat jumped from 7 sacks and 13 quarterback hits his rookie season to 9 sacks and 20 quarterback hits. He has the potential to take an even bigger jump this season and grow into a star pass rusher.
2. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel
Curtis Samuel is another player who has improved every year he has been in the league. Samuel had a great 2020 season but has the potential to take it to the next level. He had over 1000 scrimmage yards last season as he lined up at both running back and receiver. His speed and agility allows him to make plays and force defenses to adjust to him. Now paired with wide receiver Terry McLaurin, Samuel has the ability to elevate his game and create a great receiver duo for Washington.
1. Running back Antonio Gibson
The 2020 3rd round pick Antonio Gibson had a solid rookie campaign. Gibson finished with over 1000 scrimmage yards as he showed he was both a rushing and receiving threat. He also scored 11 touchdowns despite only starting in 10 games. Gibson’s ability was undeniable in his rookie season and with other offensive weapons around him his game will only get better. He has Pro Bowl potential next season and will be a reliable running back for Washington.
With potential breakout stars and proven young talent, the Washington Football Team is set up for a good season. With a great defense and rising talent on the offense Washington is ready for any challenge. Although they don’t have a star quarterback like many other teams, they have enough talent to make a playoff run.
