Ja Morant continues to be special. The Memphis Grizzlies star exploded for a career-high 47 points against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, once again showing the entire NBA that he’s going to be a problem for years to come.

Unfortunately, Morant’s gigantic efforts weren’t enough to pull off a comeback victory over the top seed Jazz, who welcomed back star guard Donovan Mitchell. After the highly competitive contest, Morant, in a seemingly dejected tone, posted on Twitter a two-word reaction.

wasn’t enough…

While Morant fell short in delivering the win to the Grizzlies, it’s almost impossible to pin the blame on him. He kept his squad afloat all throughout, even when the Jazz erected a huge lead early in the second half. The high-flying, rim-rattling guard out of Murray State led a frenetic fightback for the Grizzlies before eventually falling short, 141-29.
The series is now tied at 1-1 between the Jazz and the Grizzlies.
Morant, the reigning Rookie of the Year, eclipsed his previous career-best of 44 points. He shot 15-of-26 from the field and 15-of-20 from the free throw line. He also added four rebounds and seven assists, while playing decent defense against Mitchell and Mike Conley Jr.
Even Portland Trail Blazers star CJ McCollum was impressed with Morant’s explosive showing.

What was also not enough for the Grizzlies was their bench production. The team only got 14 points from the relievers, compared to the 43 of the Jazz’s shock troopers. Morant and the rest of the starting unit did most of the heavy lifting, which proved to be inadequate.
Ja Morant is as competitive as they come and he recognizes the fact that he has to do more. Another career-high in Game 3 in the offing?
