The Philadelphia 76ers head over to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Wizards in a Game 4 NBA Playoff matchup. They hope to sweep the Wizards and progress to the second round. It’s time we continue our NBA odds series with a 76ers-Wizards Game 4 prediction and pick.
The 76ers have been running away with this series from the beginning. They’re the first seed for a reason and they’ve been proving that so far against Washington. Philadelphia is off to a hot start and it doesn’t look like they’re going to slow down anytime soon.
The Wizards earned a spot in the playoffs after beating out the Indiana Pacers in the play-in game. Since then, Washington hasn’t quite been on top of their game and has been outplayed by the 76ers. They hope to get a win on Monday night to begin a historic comeback.
Here’s how sportsbooks have set the 76ers-Wizards Game 4 odds.
NBA Playoffs odds: 76ers-Wizards Game 4
Philadelphia 76ers -7.5 (-110)
Washington Wizards +7.5 (-110)
Over 230.5 (-110)
Under 230.5 (-110)
Why the 76ers could cover the spread
The 76ers have been one of the best teams in the league since the start of the season. Now that they’re in the playoffs, the team is maintaining their peak and proving they deserve to be number one. Now that they have a 3-0 series lead, look for Philadelphia to close it out on Monday night.
Washington has had no answers for Joel Embiid and the 76ers. Philadelphia is nearly scoring at will, and it seems everyone has the hot hand. It’s hard to lose when Danny Green is out there sinking three-point shots like it’s nobody’s business. With Washington’s morale low, look for the 76ers to potentially pull away early in this one.
Why the Wizards could cover the spread
The short answer is Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal. These two have been lights out all year long and will do everything they can to keep the Wizards in this series. Even with Philadelphia up 3-0, they haven’t done anything to contain the Wizards backcourt. For that reason, look for Westbrook and Beal to stack the stat sheet to keep the Wizards alive.
However, those two can’t do it all themselves. For Washington to win or at least cover the spread, their teammates have to step up. We caught a glimpse of Daniel Gafford and what he can bring to the table during Game 3. If Gafford and Rui Hachimura can get hot, Washington could potentially pull an upset and avoid the sweep.
Final 76ers-Wizards Game 4 pick and prediction
At the end of the day, the Philadelphia 76ers are just too much to handle for the Washington Wizards. Embiid is scoring at will, Ben Simmons does whatever he wants, and Tobias Harris is a mismatch nightmare for Washington. Even the 76ers role players have stepped their game up at the right time. Look for Philadelphia to close out the series on Monday night. Also, don’t count the Wizards out to at least cover the spread. Westbrook and Beal will do everything in their power to keep Washington in it, in a win-or-go-home situation.
FINAL 76ers-Wizards PICK: 76ers win 124-118
