When Kyrie Irving rolled his ankle in Game 4, several fans were quick to blame Giannis Antetokounmpo and his “dirty” move. After all, the Milwaukee Bucks star put his foot on the Brooklyn Nets guard’s landing space, causing him to get injured.
However, Nets head coach Steve Nash doesn’t believe the Greek Feak did it intentionally, noting that Antetokounmpo is not that kind of player.
“I don’t believe that’s the type of person he is. It was just awkward and unfortunate,” Nash said on the talk that Giannis intentionally injured Kyrie, via Nets Videos.
For what it’s worth, after the Bucks’ win in Game 4, Antetokounmpo sent a message for Irving and wished him a quick recovery after the unfortunate incident.
“I wish him a quick recovery. Hopefully he can be ready for Game 5. I wish him nothing but the best,” the Bucks superstar shared, per Lily Zhao of Fox 6.
Kyrie Irving has already been ruled out of Game 5 of the Nets-Bucks series, which is a frustrating development considering that James Harden remains sidelined as well due to a hamstring injury.
With that, Brooklyn is left with only one superstar in Kevin Durant to lead the charge against a healthy Bucks squad featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton.
It remains to be seen what adjustments Steve Nash will make to stop the Bucks’ momentum and retake the lead after going up 2-0 only to lose it. However, as the Nets tactician said it, it is not the first time this 2020-21 season that they would be without two of their superstars.
