Donovan Mitchell’s painful reaction after playoffs heartbreak

[ad_1]

Donovan Mitchell gave it his all for the Utah Jazz in their series against the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, his efforts were not enough.

Right after their brutal 131-119 Game 6 loss that officially eliminated the Jazz from the playoffs, the young guard admitted he’s in a lot of pain. Besides, with their NBA-best record during the 2020-21 regular season, they had high expectations of competing not only in the Western Conference Finals but also in the NBA Finals itself.
However, all those dreams went down the drain after the team wasted a 22-point halftime lead to allow the Clippers to come from behind and win.
“It hasn’t fully sunk in for me yet. I’m still in shock,” the Jazz superstar said, per Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune. “I don’t know what I’m going to be doing next week. Probably watching the games, mad as hell. This hurts more than last year. This is gonna eat at me for a long time.”
Sure enough, Donovan Mitchell is not one of the reasons the Jazz lost. In fact, it could be said he’s one of the only few reasons they were able to win the first two games of the series before the Clippers flipped the switch and completely took over.
In Games 1 and 2, Mitchell put up 45 and 37 points, respectively. He also made six triples in each of those contests, establishing himself as one of the deadliest shooters in the competition.
In a frustrating turn of events, though, Utah failed to adjust to the Clippers’ strategy change and ended up losing four straight. Even the absence of Kawhi Leonard didn’t help them at all, with the team seemingly failing to prepare for Terance Mann who exploded for 39 points in Game 6.
Mitchell should hold his head high for the incredible showing in the 2021 playoffs and be proud of what he has accomplished as an individual. While Utah fell short once again, there is no doubt the future is bright for the team with Donovan leading the way.
