“Herst, Brate!” That is behind the rapid dispute

Rapid got off to a perfect spring start with three wins in three games. Nevertheless, there was an argument again on the field.

4: 1 against Sturm, 2: 1 against spusu St. Pölten and LASK – Rapid, Salzburg are still on their heels except for one point. But what happened after the final whistle in Linz creates question marks in Vienna-Hütteldorf.

Mateo Barac stopped Kelvin Arase right after the three points on the center circle. Ercan Kara had to separate the two teammates. This is reminiscent of the penalty dispute at the Cup game against Salzburg and the dispute after the Vienna derby between Thorsten Schick and Taxi Fountas. Is there a fuss again at Rapid?

Coach Didi Kühbauer reassured: “The two are real homies, that wasn’t meant badly. Barac cut down Arase because he was wearing the wrong shoes for this surface – I can only confirm that. We’ll sort out the rest in the dressing room.”

After an hour Arase came in for the hapless Koya Kitagawa and should provide speed on the offensive – but the 23-year-old spent most of the time on the ground.

His defense chief Mateo Barac was also upset. In the final phase, the Croat asked for the TV microphones to be clearly audible: “What kind of shoes do you have, Brate? You don’t have that!”

The Rapid scorer to 1-0 and substitute captain Srdjan Grahovac tried to mediate: “Please go, leave him alone!” Referee Walter Altmann also intervened: “Mr. Barac, please bring the ball back into play.”

As long as Rapid is only arguing about the shoes, nothing worse should happen. The green-whites are one point behind series champions Salzburg with 33 points, but already five points ahead of Sturm and six points ahead of LASK.
