Biden set a goal to deliver 200million shots in his first 100 days in office, up from an original target of 100million.
‘When tomorrow’s vaccination numbers come out, it will show that today, we did it’, Biden said in a press conference at the White House on Wednesday afternoon. ‘Today we hit 200million shots in the 92nd day in office, 200million shots in under 100 days. It’s an incredible achievement for the nation’.
Biden then acknowledged that some Americans have found it difficult to get to a vaccination site due to work. Accordingly, he announced a new initiative providing government funding to employers who give workers time off to get the shot and recover from any side effects.
‘I’m calling on every employer large and small in every state to give employees the time off they need, with pay, to get vaccinated’, Biden said. ‘No working American should lose a single dollar from their paycheck because they chose to fulfill their patriotic duty of getting vaccinated’.
