It’s a little jarring to say that the Denver Nuggets suffered their biggest loss of the season on Wednesday. So we’re saying it again: The Denver Nuggets suffered their biggest loss of the season on Wednesday.

The timing couldn’t come at a worse time for Nikola Jokic and company, as they got destroyed by 25 points by the surging Phoenix Suns in Game 2 of their second round battle. Blowout losses should happen in the NBA Playoffs. The Nuggets looked lethargic all game, allowing the Suns to have their way on offense.
Following the blowout defeat, a day after Jokic was named NBA MVP, the Nuggets reportedly had a heated discussion in the locker room. Will Barton, who returned after a long layoff from injury, said things that needed to be said were said, although he refused to elaborate.

Asked Will Barton if anyone spoke up in the postgame locker room: “Some things were said … Some things that needed to be said.”

Their listless defense was probably the main topic as the Nuggets allowed the Suns to shoot 47.9 percent from the field, including a ridiculous 47.4 percent from beyond the arc. Six Suns finished in double digits in scoring, including all five starters.
Jokic isn’t exactly what you would call an emotional leader, so it’s hard to imagine him getting on his teammates and giving them constructive criticisms. Besides, Nuggets coach Mike Malone already blasted his players, calling them “quitters.”
Clearly, it was just a tactic to light a fire under his team as they head back home to try and close the gap in the series. Hashing out things in the sanctity of the locker room could lead to good results for the Nuggets, who suffered their biggest loss of the season on Wednesday.
